On January 29th Efthimios Parasidis, Associate Professor Moritz College of Law and College of Public Health at The Ohio State University spoke about Consumer Confusion and Food Claims.
What makes food “natural”? Do consumers understand “natural” claims on food labels? In the absence of robust federal guidelines, are state laws or class action lawsuits appropriate mechanisms for addressing false or misleading “natural” claims? This talk examines these issues and highlights an emerging tool for regulatory science – the Immersive Sensory Technology Lab. The discussion also explores issues that regulators face as they anticipate First Amendment
challenges to regulation of the food industry.
